CANOWINDRA INTERNATIONAL BALLOON CHALLENGE
Canowindra is a small but strong rural community situated in the picturesque and fertile Belubula Valley, a three and a half hour drive west of Sydney, New South Wales, and has a long history of hot air ballooning, dating back to the first modern hot air balloon flight in Australia in 1966.
Attracting balloon pilots to Canowindra’s wide-open spaces, rolling hills and gentle winds, Canowindra became known as the “Balloon Capital of Australia”. Every April, Australia’s largest hot air balloon festival and the Canowindra community welcome over 5,000 visitors to the region, generating critical economic benefits to Canowindra and surrounds. Come for the day or stay a while and enjoy all this area has to offer.
The Cabonne Community Glow is the signature event of the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge. The Cabonne Community Glow will be an amazing family-friendly spectacle and is an evening not to be missed! The evening sees 15 hot air balloons inflate just after sunset and then flash in sync to the best music from the past decades. It truly is a spectacle you’ll never forget.
