Kalari

KALARI

Set on the banks of the Galari Bila/Lachlan River, Kalari was founded by Valto and Pamela Heikkinen, and was a dream realised for the pair when they harvested their first wine grapes at Kalari in 1998. Ten acres of vines, including Chardonnay, Verdelho and Shiraz grapes, carefully brought to their prime and bottled.

Daring to be different, Valto and Pamela have experimented with some wine styles unique for the Cowra region and are now well known for their three different Verdelho styles, and the Shiraz.

Now in the custodianship of owner Ian Anderson, Kalari continues to produce award-winning wines. Each of the vintages are hand picked at their peak, and are then transported to nearby Orange, where winemakers Chris and Lucy Derrez of Madrez Winemakers lovingly craft the perfect drop.

Whilst you can no longer visit the Kalari Cellar Door, Kalari wines are available for select tastings and for purchase at the Cowra Visitor Information Centre, open from 8:30 am – 5 pm weekdays, and 8:30 am – 3:30 pm on weekends.

No Alcohol can be sold or supplied to anyone under 18. It’s against the law.
