Koyo Matsuri

KOYO MATSURI

Sister Festival to Sakura Matsuri, Kōyō Matsuri (Autumn Festival) celebrates the arrival of autumn. Locals, Australian and International visitors alike have the opportunity to experience traditional elements of Japanese culture.

Held at the picturesque Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre, Kōyō Matsuri showcases Japanese culture through a range of activities and demonstrations and celebrates the garden’s transformation into a sea of red, orange, and gold leaves. Celebrate the turning of the season with traditional tea ceremonies, a kabuki performance, kyudo kai (archery), kimono displays and more!

Our festival begins with Children’s Day, an exclusive invitation-only event, where over 300 children from across the Central West come together to explore and learn about Japanese culture through a variety of engaging activities and demonstrations. On Greenery Day, immerse yourself in a vibrant array of cultural experiences held in the serene surroundings of Cowra’s Japanese Garden.

Whether you’re folding intricate designs, admiring the beauty of kimono displays, or simply soaking in the breathtaking autumn garden, Koyo Matsuri promises a memorable experience for all.
